Who Is The Youngest NFL Player
Amobi Okoye is the youngest player drafted into the NFL. Drafted in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft by the Houston Texans, Okoye is still considered to be the youngest player ever drafted in the first round of an NFL draft.
Okoye was born on June 10, 1987 in Nigeria. Originally from the Igbo ethnic group and a free agent, he is a former American football player, of Nigerian-American descent.
He didn't know anything about soccer when he first started playing at the age of twelve. His high school coach invited him to play. One decision Okoye made to play football was his choice to attend the University of Louisville instead of Harvard. In three and a half years, he completed his degree at the age of sixteen. Okoye majored in Biology and then switched to Psychology during his undergraduate.
Okoye has been the highest draft pick from the University of Louisville since the NFL merged with the AFL. He started training with his new team on the day he signed a five-year contract. Four years later, he made his debut for Chicago Bears.
On April 7, 2012, he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent. However, he returned to the Bears on August 31 and signed a one-year contract on September 3. Okoye was released in November but would return in May. Okoye hasn't played since 2016.
