NFL Football Size

NFL's official guidelines determine the size of the NFL football. The size is 11 to 11.25 inches in length with a long circumference (measured along the length of the ball from side to side) of 28 to 28.5 inches and a short circumference (measured vertically around the middle of the ball) of 21 to 21.25 inches. NFL footballs can be easily tucked under the arms of the players as their shape is 'prolate spheroid.'

NFL footballs have no stripes, whereas college footballs do. Primary suppliers of NFL footballs, such as Wilson, must follow these guidelines.
