Former NFL Running Back Peyton Hillis Recounts Miraculous Rescue of Son and Niece from Rip Current
Former NFL running back Peyton Hills averted a tragedy when he saved his son and niece from drowning at a beach in Florida in January of this year.
The incident happened as the children were pulled by a rip current causing Hillis to jump into the water to rescue them. He first saved his niece and then his son weighing 130 pounds.
After this act, he collapsed and was taken to Pensacola's Baptist Hospital. He remained unconscious in the hospital for ten days. He is still recovering mentally and physically.
Hillis has cautioned people to be aware of their surroundings in similar situations.
